So as very few know i bought another 240, i have 3 now. The red one in my sig was in a small fender bender. I hit a civic. anyway, i've been wanting to paint the red one but the body is so shitty, it would take forever to do the body work. I then found out joe was selling his car. Joe bought his car off veilside180sx (richard) and richard bought it off (twotirefrier)Dustin. So when richard had it, i helped him work on it a couple times and the body on it was freakin awesome, for most 240's around here.
So i bought it off joe last month. its still in decent condition. so heres the plan:
-strip the engine bay
-get the few door dents fixed ( i counted about 10 total)
-get the roof fixed (small hole)
-get the door panels off and the dash out
-Sand the engine bay
-lightly sand the rest of hte car
-paint almost everything. door sills, trunk lid, engine bay and silvia front.
-start reassembling everything, hide fuse boxes for the main harness, shorten the sr harness
-pull my motor out of the red car, also the rad, intercooler, 300z master and booster, and everything else that goes with it.
-pull off some of the suspension, front and rear 300z brakes, whiteline sways, coilovers, the new car has solid bushings and nice links in back.
-pull my seats and radio.
-Put everything into the new car.
-Part the rest out or sell as a rolling chassie.

So there are many descions to be made.
- the big one Paint Color? White? nice dark silver? silver moss? nice dark or light blue?
- Parting the car out? or selling as a rolling chassie? trik300z said he wants it as a rolling chassie. but i really need to recoup some of my money and i think the only way is to part it all out.
- what else should i do while its like this? alarm? stereo? cage?
- do i want to keep this silvia bumper? i would love to do aero but way to expensive unless i do fiberglass? don't care much for fiberglass. but it would look alot better.

I've got alot of work to do. heres some pics, my camera is dieing, i have to hit it sometimes to get it to work.


I've already started stripping hte engine bay. and gave it a bath.



I don't really like the hole in the bumper. trade me?

Dash is out, carpet needs to come out and be cleaned.


the front harness is completely removed, wasn't to hard to take off. Just time.

i'm kinda moving away mentally from silvia front ends. A nice clean kit on the USDM front end looks pretty ----ing hot imo.


oh and a silver moss s13 coupe would be something special, if you are willing to spend the money go look at all the BMW colors - they have the best OEM paint anywhere IMO.

if i didn't keep myself busy i'd probably kill myself after i weight 400lbs from sitting in front of the computer eating oreo's and milk all day long.

totally, i have no time limit, this is going to take a couple months. I'd like to have it done before it gets ugly out, but whatever it takes.

Moving away from the silvia fronts is a good move, they are so expensive anymore. but i still hate the look of the pignose. it does nothing for me, but the silvia front looks like thats how it was meant to be. done right the pignose can look good, i do like the white ground zero car, looks very nice with the lip and decent white paint.

I think silver moss would look awesome, but i'm a bit worried it would look gayish. if you know what i mean. done right i think it would be freakin hot. another reason i lean towards the silver moss is, my wife, richard and jeremy say to paint it something else. the wife says it will look gay silver moss and wants dark silver, richard is skeptical and wants me to paint it the factory silver. So I really would love to paint it silver moss and then when it turns out freakin sweet to rub it in there faces. haha.

Yeah the bmw colors are pretty sweet, and i've been meaning to go drive around to car dealerships and look at colors. we'll see.

^ for sure ditch the pignose. Go with the newer front end.

Why bother painting the exact same factory color? Honestly, if I ever get the scratch to get real paint I am doing something real nice and not factory.

Some updates, i've striped alot off. i had a paintless dent removal guy come and take out all the dents. the guy was here all day and only charged me 300 bucks. turned out awesome, i wish i had some pics to show you but my camera was getting fixed at the time.
done lots of sanding, and still more to do.
I'm getting a wingless trunk lid ones of these nights. and i got this trunk lip to go with it. can't wait to see how it looks.

still tring to find a color. but hopefully it will be ready to paint soon.

no its too damn hard.
light green doesn't seem to look real nice. I don't think its silver moss but it might be close.

White always looks nice but theres alot of white 240s. this looks awesome with those wheels. its the safe choice, i know it will turn out nice.

Silver is not bad, just not me. this looks awesome.


the 240s i've seen in blue don't really work well with the car. maybe i just haven't seen a nice blue?

I won't paint it red or black. or any bright color like yellow or orange.

That pignose is sea foam green, nothing near Silver Moss.

There is a sick colour on Supra's, I forget what it's called but it's like a Burnt Orange/Bronze/Gold look. Nice and dark with a bronze tint to it, looked great.

Gonna go try and track it down on Supra forums right now.

Some updates
I got some welding to do and some body work on the passenger fender. then if all goes well. I hoping to be painting next week. hoping.

The trunk lid i got had 4 layers of paint, so instead of sanding forever, i stripped it with paint stripper. I would not recommend it for big panels. it worked ok for this trunk lid but took many coats.

Got the fenders on and lined up, took the driver side fender off my car, cause it was in much better condition than the one the car came with. most of the engine bay is sanded.

OH and I'm going to go with Silver Moss. I made the decision. next update should have some painted parts in it.

Quick question, that little lip on the trunk. Are you going to mold it on or just attach it? I like the subtleness of it, but not sure of how it looks simply attached. Maybe if you do go with justa attaching it, make sure to work it to get it to roll over the edge better. Either way it looks like your progressing quite nicely.

yeah just going to stick it on, it wouldn't work real good molded. it feels like rubber, nothing would stick to it. in the pics its just sitting there. I'll take my time putting it on thats for sure. I know of some thiner double sided tape i might use, that might look better. we'll see when i get there.

I think that silvia fronts are sick, but if you dont want to spend the money, chuki is awesome looking!!! Nice project though, lets hear it for doing the work yourself!!!!

Well some more updates, I welded in some panels where the huge holes where. I am no professional welder but it worked. and welding is so much fun. I also filled in a bunch of stupid holes on the inner fenders. then i grinded everything down and put some bondo on to try and smooth everything out. Not tring to be perfect. i also fixed the passenger fender where it had started to rip.


I made a panel the same dimenisons of the triganle shapped hole on each side. i'm gonna screw them in so they can be removed. they will be painted also.





I didn't care for the hole in the silvia bumpers, so i was either gonna make an exact copy on the other side or fill in the hole. Since i had the messed up bumper on my red s13 i cut out the side that has the hole. traced the hole on to it then epoxyed it on. then alittle bondo on front to hide the cracks. thats gonna look much better to me. more pics to come.



The engine bay will be primered this week, as well as some parts.

I think the only thing that isn't a problem is the wife. time, know how and space, are the biggest pita. 4 cars if you count the pos truck, lets just say i fit in well with the neighbors.
