its not getting easier, my hvlp gun is not up to par. the primer is somewhat rough. At this time, my skill level and wanting the job done right, i need to spend more money than i can. the friend that is helping me said he might be able to borrow a nice gun. either way, with our schedules it doesn't look like I will see the whole car painted until the end of january. which really sucks. I'm in alittle pickle right now. Do i take it too a shop and have them finish it? or continue to wait? pretty sure i'll be waiting.
Thanks for all the comments, guys.

Patience, man. That would truly be something to do all that 100% on your own. One of my dreams is to make a car mine by doing all the work, like what you're doing. Stick with it, through the trials and all that and I'm sure you'll be able to appreciate it fully when it's done. Keep up the good work.

My gun is a $150 hvlp, it just didn't turn out quite as i expected. the tip is .13 and for primer they said i should have .15ish. so that could be why. the .13 is supposed to be good with color though. so we'll see. its not as bad as it sounds, just needs more sanding than it should.

.15 is pretty good for primer, depends on what type your using. I used a .18 tip because I used a polyurethane primer (basically spraying bondo onto the car) which creates a whole new shell, perfect for those rattle canned cars!! But .13 is too small for the primer to exit the gun properly. But yeah, sand the shit out of that, make it as smooth as GLASS!! Start out with maybe a 600 grit, then maybe to finish go over it with 1000 just to tie everything together. Then your .13 tip will be perfect for your color (base coat paint is thinner, + reducer + hardener), but make sure you have the right amount of pressure, if the pressure is wrong then you could get runs. I had some bad ass runs (thanks mark...) on my car, but we fixed them!!!

I think you should paint it brown. Then when people say it looks like shit you can just agree with them Just kidding....where the hell did you learn to do all that? Damnit here I am wasting time working on my stupid house.
Love ya,
Jeff
