Going to Golden Gardens; Read This! (Border Crossing Info) - 01-25-2007, 11:53 AM

Golden Gardens is coming up on us very quickly and we all want to be prepared. When crossing the border it is very important to have as many legal documents as possible for identification.
Be sure to bring your passport if you have one, birth certificate, SIN #, Drivers License (Of course) and if you have a provincial ID card that is good too.

If you guys can, I strongly recommend getting your passport. It will save you the grief later on in 2008 when it is mandatory to have it to enter the U.S. by land or sea. You will also beat the rush. If you get on it today, you should have it before Golden Gardens. Less hassles means more fun!

Please check out this website to familiarize yourself with the procedure of crossing the border into Washington State.

Traveling to the U.S.

Quote:
Land and Sea Travel

The implementation of these measures for all land and sea travel to the United States will come into effect as early as January 1, 2008, and no later than June 1, 2009. The exact date of implementation will depend on when the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security meet certain conditions set out by the United States Congress on technology, infrastructure, and training for border officers.

For more information, see the U.S. Department of State Web site, which includes a page entitled "Foreign citizen traveling to the U.S.".

The Government of Canada continues to recommend that Canadians carry a valid Canadian passport for all visits to the United States. Please note that Canadians are not required to have Machine Readable Passports to enter the U.S., even if the passport was issued abroad. Canada is not a participant in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program.

More information is available from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Web site.

I'm not sure, but what is the policy on bringing things across the border to sell? meaning parts and stuff. I know theres tax to bring stuff back across, but i've never brought it down before.

You can take it with you and you shouldn't have any problems at all. Not last year, but the year before I took a whole trunk load of stuff down. If they ask just let them know you're going to our car club meet, and you are going to swap some parts and what not.

ummm last year i brought new rims with tyres on them acros from US to Canada and they grilled me for the tires for a long time apperantly you are not allowed to bring used tires in to canada from us. I was glad they let me slide that once couse i did not know about the rules and it would of been 3 hours ride back to return them to the dude i got them from. That's the only thing i know about. Point of this post is if you wona bring something accros the border take your time dont leave it till last minute and make sure you can bring what ever your taking so your not stoped at the border for a check of things your going to bring and possibly not be allowed to come in to US or come back to Canada

I need this cleared up. I'm not going to bring anything if theres a chance i will be turned away. I am bringing a VLSD with axels, a pair of Sparco seat brackets and possibly a set of front seatbelts.

I'm trading the VLSD for a pair of racing seats, that i will be swapping the brackets onto so i can mount them in my car. The seatbelts i'm selling to another member. I cant find any information on the CBP (Customs and Border protection website), atleast nothing that doesnt take a masters degree in international trade practices to comprehend.

I've been told that it is nearly impossible to bring items down for resale, but here i read there shouldnt be any problems. i'd expect there would be a few members that have done this, and could atleast offer some insight into it. Thanks.

If it's just parts, can't you just say they're your own spare parts that you've been too lazy to take out of the car?

Or spare parts for your own car in case it breaks down? I doubt anyone at the border can glance at something and be like that's for an 85 and you are driving a 95 you can't use that part as a spare, and I know you didn't make the mods to be able to do so.

and I really doubt they are going to give you crap for a differential in the back seat. Just keep it simple, say oh yeah its just a bunch of car parts and crap, my cars messy, sorry.
