240sx with Turbo M5 Engine -
05-24-2009, 02:09 PM
http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/05...00sx-with.html
While not underpowered, the 1990's Nissan 200SX S13 with its 205Hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine could have done with a few more extra horses under its hood. But these Swedish guys took the phrase 'a few more ponies' to the extreme by swapping the 200SX's 4-cylinder unit with a 315Hp 3.6-liter straight-six from a 1990's BMW M5 E34.
And if that wasn't enough, they also added a Garret GT45 turbocharger on the bimmer engine. We don't have any output figures but that Bavarian-powered 200SX S13 sure sounds sweet! Images and video right after the jump. -Continued

Ya but you have to keep in mind this is in Europe so BMW engines are alot cheaper to pull from a junkyard then they would be over here.

So it's pretty much the equivalent of one of us putting an LS1 in an S13? If the motor was cheap that's not such a bad idea!

The s36 and s38 are amazing engines, and by no means plentiful and/or cheap. They are to BMW's what the rb26 is to Nissans, if not better. Look up VS motor and you'll see what I mean. It's one of my favorite sounding engines, and they respond very well to boost!
That said, one of those only seems right in a widebody coupe, or an s14... my .02

Not so, the M62 and S62 are almost completely different engines. They dont share any major components, even the blocks and heads are unique to the S62. Im not a huge BMW fan but I was very close to buying a E39 M5 recently until I found out how much insurance was. You can pick up a great condition 2000-2002 for less than 20k but you will spend another 20k and insurance and maintenance over the next few years.

Seriously? The V8 will always make more torque and will ALWAYS sound waaaaaay cooler. V8's make children cry, and thats why theyre superior to everything, lol. Oh and you can make man-blenders with them.
But they are a little on the spendy side, especially with all that fabricating junk...
