attempted car theft - 07-19-2004, 03:53 PM

so i was going to get my hair cut at great clips on wilson and kingsway, i was sitting there and then all the sudden my shock sensor goes off, im like oh **** some ****er opened their door into my car so i was gonna get their plate # and get it fixed at their expense, so i walk out and i saw more than i expected

some white guy, bout 6'0, 160lbs, blond hair, jean shorts, black t-shirt was popping open my hood, i was like wtf so i walk towards my car then i see another fat **** in the driver seat of the other car, brown hair, white t-shirt, they saw me and took off

i thought it was rather funny they took off cuz im like 5'1 and we have these 2 people trying to get into my car, they could have beaten me into a bloody pulp

so anyways, the car is a late honda accord, the hatchback version, licence plate HEF 908 or HFE 908, light blue

im thinking they followed me for a while because theres nothing in the covered parking lot of great clips

anyways, big thanks to hakujin for hooking me up with the compustar

side note, they pulled my hood cable from the front so i suggest everyone ties it up somewhere out of the way so they cant pull it

I was at coquitlam center the other day, sittin outside wit sum friends, and this guy walks by with his GF, is about to walk out into the parkin lot, and then takes off screamin "GET THE FECK OFF OF MY CAR!!" and i go over to see whats goin on, and he's boltin after these two guys runnin away from a car. I dunno if they were just sittin on it, or tryin to steal it or what, but it was teh nuts.

Honestly, how many of you knew that you can reach under the cowl of the 240 and grab the cable and pop the hood.? I recommend that each of you check this out and put a few nylon wire ties in the right places to take up the slack. heh heh. I n the old Camaros we used to wire a sgl edge razor blade in a certain place to stop this. The cuts were so severe that the guys almost always were more interested in getting first aid than they were in getting even.

Good thing you got there in time. I thought this crap only happens with honda, etc... Guess 240's are the next thing to get stolen.

how about set a on/off switch for your fuel pump??that has been mention b4

or use a remote hood for poping your hood instead of cable??

also set one more alarm siren inside the trunk

i am thinking install the on/off switch for fuel pump and an air horn as a siren, so all the people around will hear it alarm and go to take a look, you know, people are so curious like me

you could run a backup siren and battery.... that way if they set your alarm off, popping the hood to take off your battery leads would be useless!

a good place to hide the siren is in the front fender cavities. take off 1 of your front wheels and then pull back the plastic liner and you got a nice secure area that is not readily accessable by anyone wanting to tamper/disconnect the siren!

I was pretty sure you can, since I know some kids in the Honda crowd, and they do it all the time. Why you get, LOCKABLE pin clips... =P

The alarm has a built-in immobilizer. 3-point to be axact. You just can't get better than that!

MOST, alarms are very easy to by pass...

Honda's so simple to take with or without alarm. Screwdriver in the window jam, pull back 6 inches, unlock door. If alarm, hit the door button really fast, alarm will not go off. Then break or unscrew the steering column, then unscrew two bolts, slide the key switch thing out and you COULD start the car if it didn't have an alarm, with an alarm you just have to pop the hood dis. battery, alarm goes off just little bit, then clip the horn or alarm wires. reconnect battery and turn key right away same time. Off your car goes...

For real security don't get a Honda/Acura, lockable pin clips, alarm... Then if your really worried a kill switch, people aren't that smart. I have not heard of a car getting stolen with one yet.

Are we talking factory or aftermarket? factory alarms may be fairly easy to bypass but NOT a factory Honda immobilizer (2000-up models) - they'd rather tow than even try to bypass that.

If its an aftermarket alarm and you cut some wires to the siren/s then that will do nothing in the way of de-activating an immobilizer. The would-be theif would have to crawl up under the dash where the alarm is, disconnect all the wires going to the brain and re-wire it back up completely bypassing the alarm. That is if he can even find the brain burried up in there.

I have never heard of anybody bypassing a single point immobilizer let-alone a dual or three point. Thats 14 years in the bizz too.

Would a I trust a theif looking at a toggle swithc 'hidden' under the dash or wherever? Not one bit.

As far as the bypassing the 'noisemaker', this is where a self contained back up battery comes in extra handy. Install is just as important as well.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

but around 3 years ago, i know there is an A4 got stolen, it got factory chip key. (that means if you don't have the orginal key, you can't start the car)anyways, it still went

if a theft really want to get a car, he can find all the way to get it

* also you could not every go into a public place with your vehicle if you dont' have to such as movie theaters malls, I always have friends drive, or I drive a different car. Sleep with a rifle anchored to my window above my driveway.

I'd PAY to see someone try and be under my dash when it goes off- the extra time, "materials" and effort I've put into over and above the great install I had done, would be hilarious. Do it right indeed

Glad to hear u caught the bastar_ds, bud.

ive heard a lot of locals saying that 240sx's are one of the hot cars that theives are targeting now adays. I like these anti theft suggestions

if you notice stalkers, how about parking your car in a lot and walking off into a store, ask the manager if you can exit threw the back door and tell him to watch your car. Then walk around the building and have your digital camera ready. As soon as they pop the hood without turning of "the special switch" the man popping the hood gets an instant shock and you run over and kick him in the balls!

Oh SNAP! You been punk'd biatch!
