    1989 Nissan 240sx, Thomas B ( 89 Hatch ground up build )

    Hey guys, I just figured that since im already going to be starting on my build up on my s13 i might as well start the thread that way I can keep everyone updated as I go. It might help some, it might not. But I hope it helps some people out.

    First off - its a 1989 Hatch, 5 speed

    My first step is getting another used KA24E to put in my car so i can get it all licensed but ... here is a video of the reason WHY i need another KA24E haha. The reason im just going with the single cam again for now, is one for financial reasons and two I am going to put in the time and money into a dual cam, its going to be a KAT.

    update, started to take the engine out tonight, got all but the bottom end out. going to probably pull the bottom end out of it tommorrow. found some issues that needed to be addressed to begin with even if the engine ran out ok for a while.

    bottom alternator bolt was hand tight along with many others, various hoses broken or torn, the exhaust manifold was all F ed up and monkied together. Um found one of my valve seals sitting under my cam in the center of the head. Found that the number 3 cylinder fuel injector had no seal to seal it to the intake manifold. Um the cam was pretty rough, the number 1 cylinder lifters are pretty worn.

    yeah... im kinda glad I have to get another engine.

    ill put up pics tommorrow .. least a few.

    Also upon inspection of the block I have at least determined that the number 2 rod bearing is bad. thats all i have descovered so far.

    spun the number 2 cylinder rod bearing, also the crank is no good. Need a new radiator, new clutch maybe flywheel. Various hoses and what not. :(

    i bet you spun 3, thats the one that dies most often. why do you need a new rad? is it leaking? and just resurface your flywheel, its 40bucks.

    sweet ill get my flywheel resurfaced and well its the 3rd in firing order but its the 2nd cylinder from the front that SPUN. and where the top hose connects to the radiator is all busted up. AND when pullling the engine we kinda hit the radiator. AND YES I KNOW your suppose to take it out before pullling the engine but i was already gonna replace it so i left it in there haha..

    Updates - swapped another engine in, at the time I put a new rad, new batt lots of new parts. Also got my diff welded, exhaust done. Sub collars, I have A sparco harness A unknown name brand, Momo Steering wheel swapped front ends and have cheapo coilovers for now but this is how it sits. Gonna get the purple wheels repainted the florecent green, gotta paint my harness bar flo green and put that in. Then hopefully do some good upgrades this summer

    update - getting new tension rods soon and also gonna be doing a KA24DET, just saving my pennys to get the engine then im going to rebuild it. Then build it properly for a turbo and then drop it in my car

    Ok so just gonna put up some new pics,

    got a front lip, got a new caliper and the usual plugs and wires. But other then that swapped coils from my red hatch I had but just sold and the harness bar. um took out the back seats and what not. Just little things here and there.

    Ill keep it updated soon as i get the tension rods and a few other parts then im buying a dual cam, gonna have it rebuilt and over the next few months or year or so then im going to turbo it and put it in my car.
